Yes, last night I made a fool of myself and I’m sure the phrase “I’m not with her” was on the tip of my husband’s tongue.
After living in new neighborhood for the 11 months, we just found out last week that our town has a “residents association” to promote harmony in the community, for beautification of our small town and to address any concerns that the residents might need some help with when taking our grievances to a “higher level” of government…you know the red tape we’re all so fond of.
So since we’re having a problem with the teenagers that frequently hang out at the park across the street from our house, we decided to go see what this group was all about (and the fact that a police detective from our precinct comes to the meetings to address concerns and update the residents on the crime in the neighborhood, was certainly a plus.)
So before we get to the open forum for us to ask for help with our rampant drug using, sexed up teenagers that party in our park after midnight every night…the board racaps the recent activities of the group.
Since we’re the new people at the meeting, they ask if we’ve seen the people in “yellow” cleaning up the town square and all the beautification efforts (basically looking for more volunteers) and I think for a minute then say, quite loudly I might add, “Oh. Those yellow shirts are our community volunteers? I thought they were the convicts on clean-up duty.”
Silence.
Hubby just turned and looked at me. Then he whispered, “you realize you just called all the people this room convicts?
Then they all laughed and said maybe they should be our town association name a little bigger. Let’s just say everyone came over and talked to me when the meeting was done. I think most of them laughed about it with me over coffee and donuts, but I’m pretty sure hubby is mortified. In retrospect I think it was funny. (I didn’t plan on insulting anyone, but maybe I should learn to think before I blurt?) Does that mean I have a warped sense of humor?
Put your foot in your mouth recently?

Oops. ROTFL. Too funny, DD.
Just think, after that comment, everyone in your community organization knows who you are.

LOL!!! Sounds like something I’d do. I’ve said things before where I thought back and was horrified at what I probably sounded like.
